The DataSensing US18 Series is a family of industrial ultrasonic sensors in an M18 cylindrical housing designed for reliable non‑contact object detection and distance measurement across a wide range of industrial automation applications. Using high‑frequency ultrasonic pulses, the sensors measure the time it takes for sound waves to reflect off a target and return to the transducer, allowing accurate detection that is independent of target color, transparency or surface characteristics. The series features variants with axial or radial acoustic emission and is suitable for harsh environments with an IP67/NEMA 6P protection rating for resistance against water, dust, oil and coolant.
Models in the US18 Series are available with multiple output configurations including bipolar discrete digital (PNP/NPN NO/NC), analog outputs (0‑10 V or 4‑20 mA) and are easily configured via onboard Teach‑in push button or remote Teach‑in input. The sensors offer a reduced blind zone, wide operating range (from about 30 mm up to 300 mm or more depending on housing and configuration), selectable operating windows via DIP switches and temperature compensation to maintain consistent performance across typical industrial temperatures.
