The HOKUYO MBF Close Crane Warning sensor is an industrial microwave proximity and level detection device designed for robust operation in harsh environments such as waste processing facilities and steelworks. Unlike optical or ultrasonic systems, this sensor uses 24.15 GHz microwave through-beam technology to reliably detect the presence or absence of objects and material levels even in dusty, smoky, or difficult environmental conditions. Its transmitter and receiver pair work together to sense when a target interrupts or alters the microwave signal between them, enabling dependable warning and control functions for machinery and safety systems.

The MBF series is typically used for Close Crane Warning and level detection, functioning as part of safety or automation systems where consistent detection over moderate distances is required.
