The Hokuyo EWF-11A and EWF-11B are compact serial optical data transmission devices designed for cable-free full-duplex bidirectional communication over mid-range distances (up to 100 m) using modulated light. These units provide reliable RS-422 interface transmission without physical cables, making them ideal for applications such as overhead cranes, stacker cranes, automated storage & retrieval systems (AS/RS), and other industrial automation tasks where conventional cables are impractical. Both models operate from DC 24 V, include warning outputs and light-reception level outputs for alignment diagnostics, and feature LED indicators for power and signal status. EWF-11A and EWF-11B must be paired together, with complementary modulation frequency assignments for robust communication.
