The Hokuyo BWF series consists of optical data transmission devices engineered for reliable, long-distance, bidirectional communication in industrial automation, material handling, and logistics systems. These transceivers use FSK modulated optical signals over aligned light paths to transmit serial data (e.g., RS-232C/RS-422) without physical cables, eliminating wear and electromagnetic interference. Available in models supporting distances of 100 m (BWF-11A/B, BWF-17A/B) and 200 m (BWF-21A/B), the series enables robust data communication between mobile units, control cabinets, and distributed sensors. The BWF-17A/17B variants also support open network connectivity, making them suitable for CC-Link and other networked automation applications. Simple LED indicators provide power and signal status, while light reception level outputs help with alignment diagnostics.
